Our little guy’s Pottery Barn boys room is done! We are so happy with how it all turned out!
It can be hard to find ideas for decorating a boy’s bedroom so I hope this post inspires you with some boy’s bedroom décor ideas as well as places to shop for kid’s bedroom décor!

Boys Room Design
Now that Alex is older, we wanted to move him out of his Nursery into his big boy toddler room.
If you have been here awhile, you know that I am all about the beautiful, functional and organized spaces.
Alex’s room is actually a pretty small room but I was up for the challenge. There was only one good place to put his bed because the other walls have a window, door to the bathroom and then the closet with 2 doors!
Luckily, he does have a nice sized walk in closet which we added a closet organization system to ourselves.
Because we have drawers in the closet, it replaces the need for a dresser! The small room really would have been too cramped with the dresser. I’m glad I didn’t try to fit the dresser in this small space.
Boys Room Inspriation
For my boys bedroom décor ideas, I of course started out with Pinterest inspiration for boy bedroom. I absolutely love this boy’s room by Monika Hibbs!
This dreamy boys bedroom was my inspiration!
In all my kid’s bedroom, I always have an element of something from Pottery Barn Kids so I spent a lot of time looking at their bedroom décor & bedding during the planning phase.
Pottery Barn Boys Room
Pottery Barn Kids has a number of cars, trucks, construction & things that go themes. I decided to go with a “Things That Go” theme. Alex loves all things that go!
I love to incorporate blue for my little boy since I have an overwhelming amount of pink in my daughter’s room. For Alex’s Nursery, I had the most gorgeous Chambray blue curtains from Pottery Barn Kids! PBK no longer sells them but Pottery Barn does! Linked in my Nursery post!

Serena and Lily feather blue wallpaper
I mentioned that I wanted some blue bedroom décor and have always been in love with this Serena and Lily wall paper!
This is my first wall papered wall in my house and I love it!! I decided to just do a feature wall vs the entire room which works well with the set up in his room.
Wood Woven Cane Bed
Alex is only 2 but time sure does fly so I didn’t want to have to buy a new bed in a few years so I decided to go ahead and upgrade him to a queen bed!
The queen actually worked out really well because it’s big enough that we can lay with him to read books. An added bonus is that he also can’t roll out of the bed & I don’t have to have bed sides to prevent him from rolling out.
Now my daughter also wants a queen bed. She currently has a gorgeous white wood daybed.
solid wood drum end table
I had a table for a nightstand in Alex’s nursery and he knocked it over a lot – boys will be boys right?
So for Alex’s little boy room I went with a round wood drum end table that was hard to knock over. Now he uses it as a launch pad to jump onto the bed – sigh….
Anyway, it’s cute and I love it .I also got this cute plant to sit on top!
I found another similar drum end table that is a slightly lighter color wood.
Things to go wall decor
I found this cute ABC truck wall print on Etsy & uploaded it to Frame It Easy to have it framed!
Hobby Lobby has tons of great kid’s wall decor. They also have a sales every other week for 50% off. All of their wall decor is super cute and won’t break the bank. Alex loves his trucks on the wall!
These fit in perfectly with my things that go theme. They come in four colors total and were very easy to hang up.
Yellow Shovel Truck | Blue Dump Truck | Red Fire Truck | Orange Cement Truck
Woven Round Wall Mirror
I also found this gorgeous round woven mirror for the wallpaper feature wall above the bed. Just something simple to bring the wall & bed together.
linen / cotton rod pocket curtains
I have these curtains in all my bedrooms! They are my absolute favorite. This oatmeal color is very pretty!
I get the 96” length to go in our eight foot ceilings and hang them as close to the ceiling as possible. This adds height to the room.
oversize adjustable metal curtain rod
My new favorite curtain rod! I have had cheaper curtain rods in the past and they are just not worth the money. It’s annoying when you can’t open and close the curtain smoothly. I highly recommend this one!
pottery barn boys bedding
Similar to the furniture, I wanted the bedding to be timeless and last. I also plan to use this room as an extra bedroom when we have guests so I went with extra nice bedding for that purpose as well. I have a combination of Pottery Barn Bedding and Pottery Barn kids bedding.

teak step stool
This teak step stool is so cute! It’s the perfect step stool for a big boy bed. It’s one of the only step stools that you can find that’s actually pretty and trendy! Added bonus that it is high quality and sturdy.
Boy’s Room Organization
We can fit a fair amount of toys in the closet but my husband has a block set that his parents made for him when he was a kid and we wanted to keep it in his room. I found this great white, wood toy bin online which fits the block set perfectly. It would store a ton of toys and also serve as a bench as well!
The other cubbie organizer and bins is perfect for all boys bedroom storage. We store books & toys here. I added a faux fiddle, book & truck to tie in with my Pottery barn theme.
