I just love the look of white kitchens, don’t you?! There are so many jaw dropping photos on Pinterest and Instagram!

For those of you that are new here, my husband and I bought 3 acres of property that we subdvided. We kept half and sold the other half. We custom built our dream home and have been adding features and continuing to customize ever since we moved in!

During our new build process, I picked out white cabinets and white countertops but I have always felt like my kitchen looked totally blah!

Before adding warmth to our all white kitchen

I finally realized what was missing! Warm tones! Today I’m sharing the single biggest change I made to warm up my kitchen as well as 4 other simple, easy changes that you can make too! Even if your kitchen isn’t white on white, this post has ideas for YOU too!

I almost did a gray backsplash but thank goodness I went with a beige toned limestone tile called the LEGNO ARABESQUE LIMESTONE MOSAIC TILE. This tile added much needed warmth to our all white kitchen!

how a window treatment added warmth to our kitchen

I had been drooling over many trending photos of wood woven shades! I dreamed of something similar in my kitchen! Eventually I would love to put these everywhere in my home, but I decided to start in the place where I spend the most time, the kitchen!

We have a beautiful casement window that overlooks our back deck. The sun is very harsh in the afternoon/evening! The purposed of the added window treatment would serve two purposes – add some much needed warmth AND be a much needed light filter.

The ceilings on our first floor are 9 feet tall. All our windows are oversized which I absolutely love – however, it would be really hard to reach the top of the window to pull the shade down. I didn’t love the idea of have cords either – especially not in the kitchen so we decided to go with cordless and motorized. I am OBSESSED! I love to be able to lower the shade with the click of a button!

When I am done, I click it again and back up it goes. It’s so functional!

The best part is that there are so many options of window treatments that you can add to your kitchen. I must have looked through 100 woven wood options. I ultimately went with one that matched the paint and backsplash color the best. Another tip specific to a woven wood kitchen window treatment is you want to go with something that will not shed as that would not be ideal around food.

If you are in need of a window treatment, reach out to Dave & Donna over at Gotcha Covered North Baltimore. They were fantastic to work with and have a no pressure sales approach. They also have endless options for any budget! I was also very impressed but the time and attention they gave my job even though it was only one shade.

Next, I want to share some other simple, easy tips to give you kitchen that WOW factor!

add wood & other natural accents

It doesn’t have to be much – a little goes a long way. One of my favorites pieces is the wood dough bowl – it serves as décor AND produce storage! Cutting boards is another great add that will take virtually no counter space.

add greenery & florals

Mix & match, faux vs natural, the options are endless! Here are a few great options!

use neutral Decor & Textiles

This one is super simple but really makes a difference! Neutral rugs, towels & placemats! Also, I am also loving pretty cleaning products vs a blue bottle of dawn dish soap with a mis-matched hand soap. I recently made the switch and don’t think I can ever go back!

Sprinkle Homey elements

Add some welcoming accents such as a coffee station for guests, fancy bottled water, delicious smelling candles. All are good ideas!

I don’t know about you but this year I’ve spent more time in my kitchen than I could have ever imagined. I’m loving the new change of warmth in this space! Have fun with it and make your kitchen a beautiful place that makes you happy!
