In case you missed it, you can read about the goals and inspiration I have for my master bedroom here! It’s best to start back in the beginning! Last week I shared my design board which really helped to bring my vision to life. Believe it or not, I actually changed some of my decisions based on how this design board looked on my computer!

If you are new to my blog, my husband and I designed and built our Custom dream home on a property that we developed which backs up to a state park! My husband Kris is very handy and we have been adding features and continuing to customize our home!
As you may have read in my prior posts, the master bedroom makeover is a complete overhaul. Not one thing is staying the same! I have many products to select but it’s going well so far. I have picked out all the new furniture! Last step before ordering is husband approval! But the furniture is real wood and is a really good price! I can’t wait to share with you all!! Luckily, it’s all a pretty short lead time as well. Its from a company that I haven’t seen a lot of marketing on but it’s gorgeous!

As I mentioned above, the design board has actually changed my mind on the feature wall design. I originally thought that I would do board & batten because we have board & batten in our master bathroom. But because we have two windows on this wall, I can tell from the design board that it would look a little choppy. No worries, I will do a board & batten feature wall in my guest bedroom for another One Room Challenge! Instead of the Board & Batten, I have decided to wall paper the entire wall. I love wall paper and don’t have any in my house yet! I’m also going to picture frame the bed with the same molding we just put in our dining room. You can see a picture of what that moulding looks like in my dining room progress update here. Then I will add the blinds, curtains and a wall hanging to finish off the feature wall!
Another thing I learned from my design board was that two curtain panels on each window is too much for the space. The windows flank the king size bed perfectly so I only want to do one curtain panel on each window. Otherwise, the space between the bed and the nightstand will be too crowded. I actually did one curtain panel on two windows in my daughter’s room as well and absolutely love it!
I’m currently deciding between a number of wall paper options that are all neutral. It is very important to pick out the furniture before finalizing the wall paper sample ideas to make sure that everything goes perfectly together!! I am ordering the wall paper samples today so that when I get the furniture, I can see it together before ordering. Remember last week when I told you that it can take me awhile to make decisions? Case in point…
One other big item is the rug for this space. I’m planning to tape out different rug sizes to nail down the size first. Once I have the size, I can shop specific rugs. There are so many great rug distributors out there! I will say that I can be picky about my rugs. Repacking and returning rugs is not a fun process! It can also be difficult to find a rug that lays right on carpet. But I’ve had success with rugs in 3 other bedrooms in our home so I CAN DO THIS! While I am at it, I hope to find a complimentary rug for our master closet!

My inspiration photos from week 2 have inspired my bedding selections! Earlier this week, I went to the Pottery Barn Outlet and found some of their fantastic bedding options for 60% off! I went with their Tencel Duvet Cover and matching shams! It’s so silky & soft and I can’t wait to start using it! While shopping, I found a number of other products for great deals for my home!!

I’m also shopping for faux Olive Trees for this space! I’ve rounded up Olive Tree’s in every size in this post.

Decluttering is also going well. I’ve filled up a large bag for donation, gave items to friends and have also sold a number of items online. It is truly amazing how getting rid of the mess reduces stress! Don’t miss my decluttering hacks & tips for having a minimalistic home blog post!
This weekend will be the major add to cart weekend!! I’m excited!
I am having a lot of fun making this project happen and sharing the journey with all of you here! As always, I would love to hear from you! Please comment below or contact me through my contact page.
