Looking for a sleek alternate to your Christmas tree skirt? Try a tree collar! Today I’m sharing all the best Christmas tree collars for your tree!
I actually don’t do a lot of Holiday décor posts but I have to share one of the holiday season’s top trends – Christmas tree collars!
A few years back, I made the switch from using a Christmas tree skirt to using a tree collar at the base of the tree.
I don’t know what it is but I think a Christmas collar looks so much better under an artificial tree!
I have this collar from Crate and Barrell which I love paired with a flocked tree. It also comes in a beautiful white wash option!
Here is a photo of one of my Christmas trees from last year.
Because this is a one piece Christmas tree collar, I had to find a storage space for it but I ended up putting mine on top of a Christmas decorations storage bin.
Finding the space to store it is worth it for me because I prefer a one piece Christmas tree collar.
If it is a hinged design, it’s important to me to have a sturdy circular base where you can’t see the hinge connection points.
Since that time, Holiday décor manufactures have been coming out with new collar options to keep up with the demand for this emerging holiday trend.

I have a 9’ foot pencil tree and the base is actually pretty big.
I had to get a few extra branches for the bottom of the tree to cover the top of the tree collar.
Christmas Tree Collar Tips
What is a Christmas tree collar?
A Christmas tree collar sits at the base of your tree to hide the real tree trunk or artificial tree base.
Christmas collars can be square, round, one piece or a multiple piece hinged design.
Christmas tree collars are a great alternative to a tree skirt which does not normally hide the tree base at the bottom of your tree.
What size Christmas tree collar do I need?
Tree collars come in all different shapes a sizes.
Most tree collars range from 20” – 34” round and 9” – 11” tall.
The most popular size is 27”.
Pencil/slim trees will generally use a smaller sized collar while larger/taller trees will use a bigger sized collar.
Before you buy, measure your tree stand base to ensure your tree collar will fully cover it but not covering the bottom branches of your tree.
Don’t forget to put your tree collar on before you decorate your Christmas tree.
